THE PORTAL, by Fran Cáceres

Part 1

It was very very dark and all kinds of strange sounds came from the forest. He was really scared but he had to go across it to save his life... He heard footsteps very near. He started running, the footsteps were getting nearer so he started crossing the forest. It was getting thicker as he was getting deeper into the shadows. In the distance, far away, he saw a little river. He thought that those beasts were going to die if he crossed it, he would finally get safe. He was running faster but they were still getting nearer. He was crossing the little river and when he was about to get to the other side, he heard a thunderous noise.
It stopped and he stopped. It was very quiet then. He thought that they were no longer following him. He waited for some minutes and started walking again...

He walked all night until he finally fell down because he was exhausted.

He opened his eyes. He realized he was in a beautiful field with lots of flowers and trees. It was quite hot but something in the air made him feel sad. He remembered the previous night, the faces of those wolves, thirsty for blood, he also remembered the noise, it was like an explosion but he didn't know where it came from. But what he knew was that it had saved him and now he would have to find out where he was and how he had got to this place....Maybe he had never been in the forest or maybe somebody saved him and took him there.

He stayed there, thinking and thinking, until he decided to get up. He was cold, he saw a beautiful lake, he went there. The water in that lake was black. He was very thirsty so he drank, but he stopped. The water had a terrible taste... Suddenly, he felt a hand pulling him into the water, he fell into it and heard a noise again. It was very similar to the one he had heard the previous night.

To be continued...
